Job summary

This new full time substantive consultant post reflects the steady growth ofRheumatology as a specialty and the expansion of inpatient provision in general medicine within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Main duties of the job

This is one of the two new posts combining rheumatology (75%) and general medicine (25%). The posts are created to provide cover for a new 21 bed medical ward. There is a long term plan to expand the consultant establishment which would reduce the generalmedicine commitment.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • MB, BS or equivalent GMC registered qualifications. MRCP.
  • CCT in General Internal Medicine, Rheumatology
  • OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in CCT/CCST in General Internal Medicine, Rheumatology OR within six months of achieving CCST at the time of interview High Quality skills in general and acute medicine and ability to manage medical takes

Desirable

  • Specialty specific exam Appropriate higher degree (MD, PhD)

Experience

Essential

  • General training in General Internal Medicine, Rheumatology to specialist level or equivalent
  • 5 years WTE minimum at SpR level in higher speciality training
  • Ability to make decisions at consultant level

Desirable

  • Interest in subspecialty such as connective tissue disease , vasculitis, MSK ultrasound Research experience\publications
