Day Surgery Practitioner

Job summary

We're looking for a compassionate, skilled Day Surgery Nurse to join our fast-paced and patient-focused day surgery unit. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality perioperative care, supporting patients through pre-assessment, admission, recovery, and discharge.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys short-stay patient pathways, and values teamwork and efficiency. South theatres specialises in general surgery and urology.We have 8 theatres 7 are for elective surgery and 1 for emergency surgery.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the day surgery journey
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and ensure patients are fully prepared for procedures
  • Assist with admissions, patient education, and discharge planning
  • Monitor patients recognising and responding to changes in condition
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold clinical governance standards
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and patient-centred environment
