Job summary

The Ipswich Heart Centre has two catheterisation laboratories and a 12 bedded recovery area.

You will support the delivery of coronary angiography, rotablation, stenting, cardiac implantable devices, and DC Cardioversions. You will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team including physiologists, radiographers, medical colleagues and admin staff.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to develop and deliver excellent clinical care. You need to be enthusiastic, flexible and have excellent communication skills. They also need to have the ability to remain professional under pressure and have excellent leadership skills.

You will have experience of working within an acute setting, and is responsive to change. If you are an experienced nurse in this area or have a keen interest to pursue a senior role within this field, we would love to hear from you.

Hours of work are currently between Monday and Friday, between the hours of 7am to 8pm, with a requirement to provide on-call and BH cover. There will be a requirement to work shift patterns to meet the demands of the PCI service which is working towards delivering a 24/7 service.

Main duties of the job

  • Be able to identify potential complications associated with radiological procedures and know how to respond to these providing appropriate quick responses to support the team in stabilising the patient
  • Assist the doctor performing the investigation as a runner or scrub nurse seeking clarity of instructions wherever necessary
  • To know and be able to prepare patients for specific procedures performed in radiology maintaining their safety and dignity throughout
  • Upon completion of training, have attained a sufficiently high level of individual competence in order to facilitate immediate responses to emergency situations.
