General Practitioner - Urgent Treatment Centre, Colchester HospitalLocation: Colchester HospitalService: Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)Shift Availability: 07:00-00:00, 7 days a week (including weekends and Bank Holidays)Join Our TeamWe're looking for qualified, experienced, and motivated General Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team at the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), co-located with the Emergency Department at Colchester Hospital. Ideal candidate will have experience working in both Primary and Secondary care, ideally within the Emergency Department or specialist interest in Urgent and Emergency Care and have experience in the management of both illness and injury in Adults and Children This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside Paramedics, Nurse Practitioners, ACPs, Nurses, and HCAs.
Main duties of the job
As a GP in the UTC, you will:Provide same-day care for minor injuries and illnesses in both adults and children (from birth).Work closely with Emergency Department colleagues to enhance clinical skills and patient care.Deliver safe, timely, and effective treatment independently.Refer patients to specialties for ongoing care and specialist opinion when necessary.Support and lead the multidisciplinary team in clinical decision-making.

To provide complete consultations with assessment, treatment and management of patients of all ages presenting with primary care problems at the UTC
To record full clinical notes using the UTC IT systems
To complete coding requirements on the clinical record in line with the Trust requirements
To complete all admin work relating to consultations
To work as part of the wider clinical team- supporting Nurse Practitioners, HCAs, and GP colleagues and training Doctors
To manage referrals of UTC patients on to acute specialties, A&E or community services where required
To support the redirection of patients to their registered GP where appropriate
To give education to patients on appropriate use of NHS services
To prescribe medicines in accordance with UTC formulary and dispense medicines from stock where available
To complete discharge letters for all patients seen in the UTC

- MBChB

- Case management experience.
