We are looking for self-motivated, committed Dietitian to provide a quality dietetic service to the Ipswich and East Suffolk population. You will be a key player within the community dietetic team. You will manage a caseload of nutritionally vulnerable patients in the community settings across Ipswich and East Suffolk including but not limited to, home enteral tube feed patients, home visits, outpatient clinics in both the acute and community settings and community hospitals. You will be working closely with assistant practitioners to deliver this service.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering a quality, evidence-based service, who relishes working in a busy setting and are a strong team player. We are seeking someone with excellent team working skills with both Dietetics colleagues and the wider MDT, as well as an ability to work independently and flexibly.
You will benefit from being part of an integrated inpatient (Ipswich Hospital), outpatient and community service that incorporates a range of clinical specialisms including renal, paediatrics and oncology. This affords many opportunities to develop and learn new skills, with a commitment from the service to support your continuing professional development.
Main duties of the job
q To be a lead dietitian responsible for the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based dietetic care to a complex case load of patients in a variety of care settings in the community e.g. Patients' homes, community hospitals, care homes and outpatient clinics.
q To manage a caseload of home enteral tube feed patients
q To manage a caseload of home visit patients in a variety of settings
q To supervise staff including band 4 assistant practitioners.
q To promote the MUST and Food First projects, as well as, support the promotion of cost effective prescribing of oral nutritional supplements.
q Provide education and training for professional colleagues in all aspects of nutrition across East Suffolk, health and social care agencies.
q To contribute to the dietetic service providing a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners, allied health professionals, and social care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team.
q To provide specialist input into the planning development and evaluation of dietetic services within community holding responsibility for defined projects.

The Dietetic Team consists of 26 Dietitians with 8 Dietetic Support Staff providing a service to both acute and community settings with secretarial and administrative staff who support us.
You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, tutorials and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.
We are a well- recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, and you will have an active role in supporting this programme and we currently had an apprentice Dietitians within the department. The trust is also committed with AHP research and has recently gained resource to support this within the trust.For full details of the responsibilities and duties of this role please see the attached job description.
