Job summary

We are looking for an efficient, conscientious, well-motivated and enthusiastic individual with the skills to provide dedicated clerical support to both the clinical and administrative teams to the Ophthalmology department.

The key aspect of this role involves dealing with the public over the phone, booking appointments, updating in-house computer systems and generating weekly and monthly Glaucoma reports for the department, hence you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have proven IT experience.

The working days will be Monday and Tuesday 2 x 7,5 hours or 3 hours 5 days a week.

Please note, this is a fixed term or secondment position until 31st December 2025. Internal candidates will be offered a secondment position only.

Main duties of the job

The primary function of this role revolves around the provision of day-to-day admin management of the service, however, it is essential to help and support all members of the team by having a flexible approach to both workload, additional tasks and working patterns. Flexibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure are key requirements for this role.

The Ophthalmology department is very busy, so you must be able to work under pressure. You will be responsible for working independently providing a full range of administrative support and therefore must be highly organised and show the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
