Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist to join our Clinical Psychology team for 20.5 hours per week on a secondment until 31st March 2027.
This post is part of an exciting project supporting the Complications of Excess Weight initiative across ESNEFT and NNUH. The post holder will work as part of a local MDT to support children and their families, working in collaboration with the CEW team at NNUH. Applicants are welcomed from Clinical and Practitioner Psychologists who are passionate about working with this client group. The post will be primarily based at Colchester Hospital but as clinics run across both sites the post holder will also be expected to work at Ipswich Hospital as and when needed.
The post holder will provide support to children and young people referred to the ESNEFT CEW service for psychological support. They will be responsible for overseeing psychology referrals and managing their own caseload. The role will involve working with children and young people as well as families, and external agencies such as mental health services, community partners and social care. Part of the role will involve consultation to other healthcare professionals and joint working with the CEW team at NNUH, linking in with their lead Clinical Psychologist for the CEW service. There will be opportunities to develop new service offers from the Psychology team.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist psychological assessments of children in the Healthy Futures clinic, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the patient's care.
To develop psychological formulations of presenting problems that integrate psychological theory and evidence and which incorporates interpersonal, societal, cultural and biological factors.
Provide expertise, specialist advice, support and consultation to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by all members of the Paediatric multi-disciplinary teams in which children are supported, contributing directly to patients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups. Evaluating and adjusting psychological formulations drawing on a range of theoretical and therapeutic models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
