An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Colchester Hospital.
We are inviting applications for a full-time post, Consultant in Renal Medicine.
Full registration with the General Medical Council and being listed on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT date at time of interview.
Main duties of the job
The renal consultants currently work on a rotational base providing inpatient care with the support of a FY1 and an IMT trainee, dialysis management and 7 general nephrology clinics (7 in Colchester and 2 in Clacton) as well as 3 low clearance clinics.
This is an exciting time to join the renal team as major changes are planned. The Colchester and Ipswich renal team will join forces to form a single department in order to improve patient care and resource management.

The successful candidate will work with the existing team in delivering a high qualify nephrology service:
Provide in-patient care on a rotational base
Provide care for dedicated HD patients
Provide sessions flexibly to cover commitments of colleagues when they are on leave or on call
Support the anaemia team
Participate in the on-call rota 1:4
Participate in the various departmental meetings
Participate in the assessment of outpatient referrals and A&G requests
Play a full part in the teaching and training commitments of the department
Participate in the process of clinical governance, including clinical audit
The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in establishing the transplant follow up service in Colchester and provide care to the transplant patients with the help of the other consultants.
