An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Secretary within the Vascular Surgery Unit at Colchester Hospital.

We are looking for a Support Secretary to join the Vascular Surgery Department, You will be based at Colchester Hospital. We are a busy, friendly department caring for patients with a wide range of Vascular problems.

You must possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including excellent keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft. You must have the ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach to workloads, delivering excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

In this role you willcarry out medical secretarial administrative duties, adhering to policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high quality service. You will deal efficiently and courteously with patient and staff enquiries.

For this role you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to prioritise and adapt to constant demands on the workload as well as be able to demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.

Essential skills required for the post include: good typing and audio skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, effective time management skills, good IT and secretarial skills, supporting with theatre booking, interpersonal and organisation skills.

To ensure a high standard of secretarial and administrative service is consistently delivered by undertaking all required tasks and activities on a daily basis

To utilise the required technology including Big Hand, Evolve, Microsoft and any other new technology or system(s) that are introduced and support other team members to do so to deliver an efficient administrative and secretarial service.

To type general correspondence / dictated correspondence and clinic letters using BigHand and utilising agreed templates to meet commissioner standards
