You will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating individual programmes of care for fractured neck of femur patients and other patients with musculoskeletal injuries. This post holder will also be responsible for the development and implementation of standards and protocols to ensure optimum patient pathways, improved patient outcomes and staff education both in the base ward and on outlying wards across the wider division.

You will be expected to complete the accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification within a 2 year period of appointment.

We are looking for an experienced Trauma and Orthopaedics nurse to join our trauma and orthopaedic team as a trauma nurse practitioner. If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Uses specialist knowledge and skills to integrate assessment findings, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care for fractured neck of femur caseload and other elderly patients with a musculoskeletal injury, which is delegated to them during contracted hours.

Makes referrals to other professionals as necessary e.g. on-call trauma consultant/registrar, anaesthetic, care of elderly physician, physio, OT, surgical appliances.

Establishes effective working relationships with other care professionals whose role impinges on the service i.e., anaesthetic team, care of the elderly team, physio and OT, theatre team.

Demonstrates specialist knowledge and skills in the speciality and shares this with others to positively influence patient care.
