Triage Registered Nurse - Urgent Treatment Centre

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Urgent Treatment Centre as a Triage RN. To be considered for this role, you must have at least two years relatable experience in Primary Care or Emergency Care.

The UTC opened at Colchester Hospital in October 2019 and consists of a multi-disciplinary team of GP's, ENP's ANP's, ACP's and RN's. We are the front door of the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) Department and offer a first class care at the door service. As the Triage nurse on shift you are expected to ensure patients receive the right treatment at the right place at the right time and will be required to assess and triage patients, both at the front door and in consultation. You will work closely with the Nurse Practitioners within the UTC and also with the Emergency Department and other specialities within the Hospital.

The UTC is open from 0700 until Midnight 7 days a week, including weekends and all bank holidays. You will be required to cover Early and Late shifts which are 10 or 7.5 hours in length. The shifts times are 0700-1730 or 0700-1500 and 1400-0030 or 1600-0030.

  • Visually assess and obtain information from the patient to help direct them to the correct care. This may be the UTC or ED Department
  • Triage patients and collects all observation checks and record on to SystmOne
  • Must be Band 5 qualified registered nurse with post qualification experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of Primary Care, Community and/or Emergency Care
  • Knowledge of Manchester Triage processes
  • To assist the UTC Front Door Team in the Care at the Door process.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and be able to make quick and accurate decisions due to the high demand and quick pace within the department.
