An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Ipswich Hospital in the musculoskeletal team. We are inviting applications for a full time, Consultant with a special interest in Early Inflammatory Arthritis.
The Rheumatology Department at Ipswich provided adult Rheumatology services for patients across Ipswich and East Suffolk. The department runs outreach clinics in Felixstowe General Hospital, Aldeburgh Cottage Hospital and health centres in Stowmarket, and Hartismere in eye, in addition to clinics within the trust and rheumatology outpatient.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
- Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care
- Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
- Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E
- Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care
- Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team

There's a £5.3million molecular diagnostic laboratory soon to open at Ipswich, and works begins soon for a new Breast Care Centre and a Children's Unit.

- Clinical and other administration as required by agreement
- Teaching and training of junior staff and undergraduates
- Participation in Clinical Governance
The job plan is expected to consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), 8.5 clinical Pas and 1.5 core SPAs. The exact details of job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate after their appointment.
Full clinic will be expected to have equivalent of 12 follow up patients.(possibly 2n and 8 follow up or 3 and Six follow ups) the new to follow up ratio will depend on the needs of the department.
The appointee will be expected to undertakein Consultant on Call rota which covers referrals from the wards and GP calls between 9am-5pm. There are no evening or weekend on call commitments.
