Job summary

The Trust runs a proactive programme to manage its sustainability performance in support of the wider NHS ambition to deliver a 'Net Zero' National Health Service by 2040.

This role is essential for driving the Trust's commitment to sustainability while ensuring compliance and operational excellence across various initiatives and projects. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the sustainability strategy (the Green Plan) for the Trust.

This will include supporting the tasks required to ensure compliance with related legislation, regulations, codes of practices and technical guidance, and performance targets for the Trust.

They will also be required to support the future development of the Trust's Sustainability Strategy, maintenance of the associated Action Plan and completion/use of relevant NHSE tools, guidance, and requests for information.

The role will have responsibility for supporting the breadth of sustainability issues at the Trust, including but not limited to; Workforce and System Leadership, Communication and Engagement, Clinical Practice & Medicines, Estates and Facilities, Travel & Transport, Food & Nutrition, Green Space & Biodiversity, Supply Chain & Procurement, Clinical Transformation, Digital Transformation, Adaptation and Air Quality.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain the Trust's Energy Management Software/Database. This entails processing, validating and filing of utility invoices. Providing information for reports (such as ERIC returns), keeping track of energy contract renewal dates, compliance with Display Energy Certificates and other regulatory requirements and identifying anomalies or opportunities for energy improvement.
  • Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of the Trust's Green Plan and NHS Net Zero targets.
  • Assist with completing Business Cases and other funding applications for Energy and Sustainability opportunities.
  • Maintain and update the Estates and Facilities Twitter / Intranet information.
  • Submission of KPIs for Accountability Framework (AF)
  • Support Enabling Team with general administration, data gathering and support with creating visual dashboards using Power BI (Power BI Training can be provided).
