In addition to our new EPR, our work schedule for the Infrastructure team includes process improvements and project delivery where we have a number of key infrastructure initiatives underway including (Win11 deployment, Unified Communications, AD domain consolidation, Legacy technology replacement)

Main duties of the job

As an Infrastructure Engineer within our NHS Trust, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of our ICT systems.

Your primary focus will be on installing, maintaining, and supporting our EPR Epic system environment - resolving incidents, problems, and service requests in a timely manner, adhering to agreed service level agreements (SLAs). You will be the go-to person for troubleshooting and providing technical solutions to Epic infrastructure-related issues. Your expertise and support will be invaluable in maintaining a high standard of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Infrastructure issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to critical services.
  • Proactively monitor alerts, system performance, capacity, and security, implementing necessary enhancements and optimizations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to implement and support and make improvements to technologies such as VOIP, networking, Azure, end point management, VMWare, and more.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, preferably within the healthcare sector or a similarly demanding industry.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, server administration, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with Azure, MDM, VOIP, Citrix, and VMWare is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in supporting Windows and Linux operating systems and familiarity with Windows 11

About us

  • You will design & implement Epic and other production environments, ensuring alignment with Trust strategy and project initiatives.
  • You will lead the resolution of complex infrastructure challenges, conducting root cause analysis & implementing preventive measures.
  • You will provide strategic direction & solution design across all core technologies.
  • You will undertake research & development initiatives on a range of emerging technologies.
  • You will manage 3rd party maintenance contracts ensuring adequate cover, quality & value for money.
  • You will develop an understanding of the Trusts and NHS Network, Telecoms & IT systems sufficiently well to be able to advise users on any problems encountered
  • You will pro-actively review new and emerging technologies with its subsequent application according to the Trust's business requirements, where relevant, provide input into business cases.
  • You will also play a vital role in providing technical consultancy for IT projects. Your input & expertise will help shape the implementation of new technologies, system upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements.
