Job summary

Martlesham ward are recruiting for a new ward clerk who will be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise their workload, and work well within our team. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, both face-to-face and over the phone.

Martlesham ward has bed capacity of 28 inpatients beds consisting of short and long stay patients. The unit is part of the Trauma and Orthopaedic where we deliver high quality care for patients including diagnostic and treatment.

Ward clerks are the first point of contact for visitors and patients to the ward, so we need someone who will ensure that the Trust's 'OAK' Values are used at all times to ensure the best patient experience.

We are an extremely motivated and passionate team determined to deliver excellent and high standards of holistic nursing care in a pleasant environment with friendly and supportive staff.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include admission and discharge of patients on Lorenzo and Evolve computer systems, booking of appointments and filing of notes, answering phones and liaising with multidisciplinary teams/departments across the trust.

You should be able to work autonomously, be able to prioritise your workload and to work well within a team. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, both face-to-face and over the phone.

It would be beneficial to have NHS experience and possess excellent IT and clerical skills. You will be dealing with the staff and general public so it is paramount that you have good people skills. Working hours will be varied, so you must be flexible.
