Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated to provide high quality care midwife?

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Midwife to join the team on Deben Ward as Lead Midwife. You will support staff in providing care for women undergoing induction of labour, experiencing obstetric complexities and those requiring post-natal care following the birth of their baby.

This is a permanent post, part time for 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder is responsible for the continuous management of Delivery Suite provided by their team, including the organisation of the services and the management of staff and resources.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of policies, guidelines and patient information.
  • To contribute to the development, completion, and audit of all relevant National Service Frameworks and other National Initiatives.
  • To work with the other Lead Midwives and Matrons to continuously improve the quality of service and safeguard high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical practice flourishes.
  • Identify deficits in care and take proactive steps to remedy this eg by setting up intra departmental multi-disciplinary groups to initiate changes consistent with best practice.
  • To attend regular unit meetings and to represent the Unit at Trust meetings and external forums.
  • To identify potential risks and assist in the completion of reports following clinical incidents.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary panels, forums, meetings.
  • Participate in audits as required.
