Job summary

The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital will be one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. Delivering high volume and low complexity cases locally for the people we serve across our region.

We are looking for an efficient and enthusiastic Materials Management Officer to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of an effective and efficient Materials Management service to the Trust, ensuring that ward and department stocks are checked and replenished, following all Trust policies and procedures and Health and Safety requirements.

With the implementation of new structures & systems and continued national developments this is an exciting time to be part of Procurement. ESNEFT Procurement is a progressive department, looking to integrate with clinical and operational colleagues, define innovative ways of working and delivering on financial target.

The Dame Clare Marx Building that will house our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC) opens in 2024 with a focus on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre will have eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the day to day provision of an effective and efficient Materials Management service to the Trust, ensuring that ward and departments stocks are checked and replenished processed, following all Trust policies and procedures and Health and Safety requirements.
The adoption of a flexible approach towards any supplies activities undertaken and will be required to provide support where it is required on a daily basis.
Knowledge attainment of a diverse range of tasks and their relevant working environments through the Trust landscapes.
Communicate effectively in both person, written format or by e-mail, and respond to urgent telephone and bleep requests taking appropriate action, to ensure, timely and appropriate communications with all stakeholders including Trust colleagues, NHS Supply Chain, and Suppliers to the Trust and their company representatives.
