Job summary

We are looking for a waiting list coordinator to join our team. You will be someone who works in an efficient and organised manner as this is a remote working role. On-site training at Ipswich Hospital will be required initially. A flexible approach to workload and additional tasks may also be required.

Working with multiple specialties, you will help coordinate all patients waiting for an admission have an agreed date for surgery, receive the relevant paperwork, pre-admission appointment.

This post is fixed term until February 2025 to cover maternity leave. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please ensure you have discussed this with your line manager.

Main duties of the job

  • Request Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) codes and upload the code on to the inpatient access plan. Chase clinicians if not indicated on surgical pathway. Liaise with CCG if patients are declined or further information is required
  • Ensure that patients are booked on to appropriate operating lists, the lists are filled to an agreed profile and the TCI date added to Lorenzo.
  • Work as part of the team, helping cover for colleagues when they are on Annual Leave
  • Understand current guidelines policies and procedures for the management of elective activity, ensuring these procedures are followed at all times
  • Inform the service with information received to ensure the correct management of patient data, governed by the 18 week guidance. Inform the relevant consultants/ secretaries/departments of any significant changes, e.g. patient removing him/her self from the admission list/ access plan, and ensure up to date details are held on LRC
  • Prepare pre-assessments and admission letters for patients, selecting appropriate instructions according to the timing and the nature of the operation, treatment or procedure. Ensure relevant information sheets, leaflets or other information accompanies the admission details
  • Initiate appropriate changes to admission letters or other documentation, to reflect any changes in booking or other procedures
  • Use data bases and/or other systems as appropriate to maintain, record and monitor information
