Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead to join our Raedwald Day Surgery Unit within the Garrett Anderson Centre at East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust based at the Ipswich site.
Raedwald Day surgery unit is a purpose built day surgery area with 4 operating theatres, 24 adult cubicles, 7 children's cubicles and postanaesthetic recovery area.
We are striving to be in the top 5% in the country for day case targets.This post is integral to the effectiveness of the Day Surgery Unit and provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to play a fundamental role in the development of day surgery in the Ipswich Hospital.
This role is supported by the Matron for Theatres and Anaesthetics, the other clinical lead for Raedwald Day Surgery Unit, Clinical Educator, andthe Senior Clinical team of Sisters and Charge Nurses together with a specific competency programme and development opportunities for therole.

If so then we are looking for a highly motivated practitioner, ideally with theatre, recovery or ward experience, who is passionate about the care of patients and the development of the unit.
Main duties of the job
- Lead, manage and develop high quality cost effective day surgery services within the Trust.
- Line manage and provide professional leadership for the Raedwald DSU team.
- Contribute to the Trust strategic aims and objectives, both within the Division and with external partners.
- Contribute to the Divisional Management Team, facilitating development, implementation and evaluation of Trust governance objectives.
- Lead on Governance and Risk Management at department level.
- To represent the clinical speciality of day surgery at Divisional, corporate and professional levels.
- To take the lead at operational level in the provision and development of day surgery at Ipswich Hospital in support of the Operational Managers and Assistant Director of Nursing, Surgery and Elective Care.
- Provide professional leadership at divisional level in the absence of Matron (Theatres, Day Surgery and Recovery).
- Responsible for the collection and interpretation of data on key quality indicators, generate reports and implement recommendations.
- In liaison with Matron, Divisional Manager and Clinical Director, lead in service improvement and re-design.
- Motivate, inspire and develop practitioners in achieving excellence in care.
- In collaboration with relevant colleagues implement a framework for safe practices.
