Job summary

Applications are invited for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual to join our friendly and dynamic teams within the Oncology departments at Ipswich & Colchester Hospital's, part of the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

These posts are fixed term until August 2024 with the possibility of extension afterwards.

Full GMC required .

Applicants with less experience would be considered at ST1/2 level

Main duties of the job

  • Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working in the department.
  • To prescribe chemotherapy and manage treatment related complications
  • New patient assessment/ Ward visits/ Acute Oncology Service support
  • To provide Medical cover to the Chemotherapy Day Unit
  • To provide cover for chemotherapy review clinics when required
  • Radiotherapy reviews (and planning if suitably qualified)
  • Ward rounds/supporting the junior staff with in-patient care
  • Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Nursing teaching
  • Participation in clinical trial

To complement the established services, the ESNEFT oncology team are committed to collaborative working, to ensure the long term sustainability of oncology service provision and to increase opportunities, training and research for medical staff

Job responsibilities

  • In addition to the above the post-holder will be expected to attend the relevant MDTs within the area of interest that he/she develops and support the research team in clinical trial accrual, and take an active part in Junior Doctor and Medical Student teaching.
  • Although this post is not required to take part in an on-call rota the post-holder should be prepared to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
