East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust has an exciting opening in the Diabetes Team.

The Diabetes team is dynamic and forward thinking and have recently expanded to provide an integrated diabetes service for East Suffolk. The team has won several awards including the Quality in Diabetes Care award on 2 occasions and the HSJ award.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our team. You will be based at the Diabetes and Endocrine Centre working as part of this multidisciplinary team, participating in the delivery of integrated diabetes care for people with diabetes across East Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

This post is mainly based in the in-patient setting with close working relationships with our out-patient and community based nursing team colleagues. We offer secondary care services to patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as covering specialist areas of Diabetes in pregnancy, Diabetes related renal disease and also have a substantial amount of patients using insulin pump therapy. The in-patient nurses will therefore need to have a working knowledge of the acute management of diabetes in all the specialist areas involved.
