Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Ipswich Hospital and Community Team. We are inviting applications for a fixed term Junior Doctor qualified to FY3 or ST/CT Grade until 6th August 2024 with potential to extend beyond this.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with a geriatric consultant alongside the community medical team. The medical team consists of GP Specialist Trainees, Foundation Year 2 trainees, Local Employed Doctors and Advanced Care Practitioners. The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate clinical management of patient as part the progressive, innovative multidisciplinary ward team, effectively managing their own time in supporting the ward team and working closely with the ward matron, nursing team and therapy teams to deliver excellent clinical care and support patient progress during rehabilitation. Working within the clinical guidance of the Consultant, you will be expected to assess all new admissions, identify any acute medical needs and use your clinical judgment and experience to escalate back to the acute hospital when needed in the event of clinical deterioration. There is a weekly Consultant led ward round at each Community Hospital. Daily board rounds, weekly MDT meetings, monthly clinical governance meetings will also form part of your timetable.

This post is integrated with the Ipswich hospital older people's services and at times your role will also include sessions in the frailty assessment base, falls clinic and other community and older people's services.

There's a £5.3million molecular diagnostic laboratory soon to open at Ipswich, and works begins soon for a new Breast Care Centre and a Children's Unit.
