Job summary

The Clinical Support Officer role will provide essential non-clinical support with patient related administration and other tasks to enable clinicians within the Integrated Care Teams to be free to provide clinical care.

This is for maternity leave cover working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Clinical Support officers will be an integral part of the Integrated Care Team teams, managing non clinical administration and other tasks which may include:

  • Datix administration
  • Submitting Loan Equipment forms
  • Checking that everything is ready prior to visits eg: quarterly injections
  • Chasing up medication requests with prescribers
  • Dropping off equipment to patients homes
  • Arranging periodic reviews eg: Catheter Review
  • Preparing dressings boxes for community nursing
  • Management and tracking of equipment availability eg: Syringe Drivers

They will provide direct administration support to the clinical team including ordering, maintaining stock and other general administrative tasks including photocopying, printing.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as an ambassador for the organisation and their team by providing a high standard of communication skills at all times
  • To deal with telephone enquiries/referrals in a polite and helpful manner; ensuring messages are prioritised and actioned as appropriate
  • To effectively communicate with other internal and external stakeholders, members of staff and the public, providing clear explanations and presenting positive image
  • To use internal processes and own initiative for escalation of complaints in an effective, timely manner
  • To manage often complex clinical personal information according to Caldicott guidelines
  • Book appointments for patients.
  • To liaise with other professionals as needed
  • Working with clinicians, ensure patients are discharged once treatment completed, discharging the patient from the relevant IT systems and filing all paperwork in accordance with organisational policy
  • To use electronic systems effectively in order to maintain safe standards of record-keeping, and database management following all relevant procedures and guidance
  • To manage incoming information, process it and pass it on to the relevant practitioner
