Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 physiotherapist to join our Inpatient rotation. Current rotations are 12 months long, with the opportunities to rotate through our medical, surgical, older peoples services, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Stroke, Neurology, and Pulmonary rehabilitation services.
Band 5 Developmental role to Band 6 would be considered
You will have the opportunity to supervise junior and support staff, deputise for their band 7 and be involved in service development projects.
There will be a requirement to be on the oncall rota and work weekends and BH.
Main duties of the job
To complete competency framework to enable participation in the annual Band 6 rotational scheme. This includes rapid assessment, facilitating discharge, specialist rehabilitation, falls prevention and specialist inpatient services in Critical Care, Stroke and Neurology and Respiratory care.
To perform safe, evidenced based physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and deliver an individualised treatment programme from a range of options.
To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with diverse or complex presentations, using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to assist in diagnosis and choose from a range of treatment options to achieve the desired goal. To formulate treatment plans and recommend best course of intervention, considering patients' personal goals and objectives, to develop comprehensive discharge plans.
To be responsible for own caseload, and for a defined area of the service, initially with supervision of senior staff then progressing towards working without direct supervision. Supervision involves regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and one to one assessments.
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.
To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.
