Job summary
We are looking for a Support Secretary to join our Oncology department in Colchester Hospital.
In this role you will provide efficient and pro-active secretarial/admin support. You will liaise with multi-disciplinary staff within Oncology, patients, other departments within the hospital, Mid Essex Hospital, General Practitioners and hospitals.
You will join our friendly, dedicated and hard-working team in a fast paced and busy environment to provide multidisciplinary care for our patients.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide an efficient and effective support service. You will have attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan. You must be able to work using your own initiative and be flexible to work where the need is greatest.
You should have a good level of clerical experience and good working knowledge of IT systems although full training in the use of our systems will be provided.
In this department you will be fully supported by management with regular training and development to help further career.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide assistance to the Consultants by way of secretarial and general admin support. You will perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, collation of notes, making and changing appointments, typing and providing administrative support to the team of Medical PA's. You will assist with audio/typing of letters dictated by the Consultant and their team using the Bighand electronic dictation system.
You will also receive and process telephone calls from GPs, patients, relatives and other medical professionals, recording and passing on message in a clear and concise manner.
