Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Woodbridge Ward

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the above post. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and well-motivated registered nurse with a strong commitment to nursing patients in care of the elderly on Woodbridge Ward.

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your leadership skills?

You will be a key member of the ward nursing team to ensure high quality care is delivered. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-professional team.

You will be required to work across the Trust to help facilitate patient flow and achieve the standards set within the National Clinical guidelines.

Main duties of the job

You will need to have:

  • The ability to work autonomously
  • An ability to make safe and speedy clinical judgments in an emergency situation
  • The desire to develop your clinical skills and knowledge in relation to care of the elderly
  • Evidence of teaching, mentoring and supporting other staff
  • Excellent communication and team work skills
  • Good organisational skills

Candidates must be patient focused, flexible, adaptable and capable of thinking laterally.

Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of patient care with acute medical problems.

Perform specialist interventions in line with the agreed Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, as part of holistic patient care.

Communicate effectively with patients, carers and visitors.

Be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records.

Liaise with the multi-professional team regarding the planning and delivery of care, and cohesive discharge planning Inform the Ward Sister/Head Matron of any potential complaints, or if any patient/carer is dissatisfied with any aspect of their care, so that immediate and appropriate action can betaken

To actively participate in admission/assessment procedures within the Ward and be involved with ongoing care

To proactively utilise and implement all infection control policies within the Trust, ensuring effective use of personal protective equipment, hand washing/decolonisation between activities and adherence to isolation procedures within your daily practice.
