Framlingham Neonatal Unit is looking for a confident and professional registered nurse to join our multidisciplinary team providing special, high dependency and intensive care services to new-borns based at Ipswich Hospital. Although predominately based at Ipswich you may be asked to work at Colchester to maintain patient care.

The Neonatal unit is an 18 cotted unit (2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency & 13 Special Care) is classed as a level 2, Local Neonatal Unit sitting within the East of England Network.

Our unit sits in a unique position, coordinating with both the maternity and paediatric departments of Ipswich Hospital to present an efficient and complete child health service. With this responsibility comes the need for adaptability in the face of highly individualised care needs, and the capability to also support babies' parents and families through integrated care.

You will join a close and supportive team of dedicated professionals striving towards the optimum in patient care and the values of our trust. This role will allow for the continued development of your own specialised skills, with opportunities for further training and career progression, as well as the chance to nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, individualised nursing care to babies and their parents/carers through working as an effective member of the inter-disciplinary team
  • Responsible for the assessment of care needs, implementation and evaluation and performing all relevant forms of care with or without direct supervision as appropriate
  • To demonstrate procedures to new staff, junior staff and students
  • To have an awareness of safeguarding children issues and appropriate reporting procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining professional knowledge and skills thereby making an effective contribution to the standards of the ward team in accordance with the departmental philosophies
