Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Support Secretary to join the Urology Department in Ipswich Hospital, full time - 37.5 hours per week. We have a permanent post available and a fixed term/secondment until 31st March 2025.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide an efficient and effective support service to the clinicians, patients & medical secretaries. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan. You must be able to work using your own initiative and be flexible to work where the need is greatest.
You should have a good level of clerical experience and good working knowledge of IT systems although full training in the use of our systems will be provided.
In this department you will be fully supported by management with regular training and development to help further career.

For the fixed term/secondment post - internal applicants will be offered on a secondment basis only. This will need to be discussed with your current line manager.
Main duties of the job
To undertake a full range of secretarial and administrative duties for the Urology team and Consultants including:
- Receive and open mail
- Perform routine tasks on own initiative
- Type general correspondence, clinic letters, discharge summaries, reports
- Receive dictation via Big Hand and upload letters to Evolve
- Update patient pathway following clinic appointment
- Manage the non-admitted PTL
- Assist Department Lead with Choose & Book Process
- Answer telephone and deal with enquiries, convey messages
- Maintain efficient filing systems
- Ad-hoc duties as delegated by Department Lead
