Job summary

The Colchester Hospital Radiotherapy department is seeking to appoint a rotational Radiographer as a newly appointed Band 6 / Band 6 Team Leader with experience. This is a 2yr fixed term contract.

The rotations will be through the department which has the following facilities:-

Localisation is carried out on a Toshiba Wide Bore CT scanner and planning is carried out using Prosoma Virtual Simulation Software. All of these units are fully networked with the Eclipse planning systems via the ARIA network. There are full mouldroom facilities and an Orthovoltage and Superficial unit as well as HDR brachytherapy.

All radiographers rotate through the treatment units and the CT scanner, and there are opportunities to participate in the planning process. The department provides clinical placements for the training of students from The University Of Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

Depending on experience

1. i)manage the treatment unit, supervise the work of a team and rotate through the CT Simulator or

ii) Deputise for Team Leader band 6 Radiographer when required, supervising the work of a team and rotate through the CT Simulator.

2. Provide and maintain the highest professional and technical standards of the department, in conjunction with the Team Leader band 6 and Band 7 Radiographers, to ensure accurate treatment for a range of procedures.

3. Establish and maintain effective communication with individual groups, both patients and healthcare professionals, about difficult or complex treatment matters, overcoming any problems in communication.

4. Provide specialised advice concerning treatment and care of cancer patients, with a range of conditions, whilst undergoing radiotherapy.

5. Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

6. Establish and maintain effective communication with individual groups, both patients and healthcare professionals, about difficult or complex treatment matters, overcoming any problems in communication.
