Support Team Supervisor

Band 3

(based on a standard working rota) All evening, night and weekends are paid at an enhanced rate and with the shift pattern for the role.

You will be required to also work closely with clinical service teams and our hospital visitors.

Perform a wide range of duties connected to the provision of support services within the Trust and ensure a high standard of service delivery in relation to the support services functions.

Your primary duties will include the day-to-day management and supervision of a team of support (Portering) staff, monitoring response times and completion of jobs within the time frames stated in the Service Level Agreement.

Shift Pattern:

o 07.00 - 15.00

o 09.00 - 22.00

o 15.00 - 23.00

o 23.00 - 07.00

Two out of four weekends off

Hourly rates Monday - Friday 07.00 - 20.00 £12.75 - £13.61

The post holder will be required to perform a wide range of duties connected to the provision of support services within the Trust.

Post holders will ensure a high standard of service delivery in relation to the support services functions.

Primary duties will include the day to day management and supervision of a team of support (Portering) staff, monitoring response times and completion of jobs within the time frames stated in the Service Level Agreement.

Liaising with the service users to ensure practices and procedures are maintained to meet demands of the service users and comply with legislation.

Post holders will be required to work without supervision and use a high level of initiative in decision making.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Organisation and forward planning of rosters, ensuring consistent staff levels across all shifts.

2. Manage allocation of staff to areas of responsibility, by forward and daily planning of available staff. Complete worked hours tracking documentation to accurately reflect staff allocation.

3. Supervision of support staff on a rota basis, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

4. Support Security Car-park function as required.

5. Manage Waste function to ensure legislation in relation to waste management is implemented and compliant with law. Liaise with Estates to ensure that waste is effectively removed and does not build up on site.

6. Organise and chair team meetings with support staff at regular intervals.

7. Respond to complaints in the first instance, investigate and make recommendations to changes in practice to avoid recurrence.

8. Respond to Major Incident and Code Victor and follow instructions from Duty Manager.

9. Ensure new staff are correctly inducted and trained. Arrange and ensure refresher training at least annually for all staff.

10. Ensure staff follow procedures / work instructions appropriate to the area of work, ensuring that all schedules meet Service Level Guidelines and comply with legislation in relation to waste.

Other Duties

1. Understand and manage situations which may arise as a result of stress related issues when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff. Such incidents will require high levels of diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills.

2. Undertake any training and personal development as required in relation to the job, to meet the demands of the post and changes in law.

3. Communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation and with the general public.

4. Maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene during the performance of their duties.

5. Plan and organise own workload with ability to prioritise tasks at short notice

6. Any other duties proportionate with the post or as directed by the line manager.
