Hours 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our outpatient team, with a particular focus on antenatal care for patients with pre-existing Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. This exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to make a difference in the lives of patients who are planning pregnancy or managing diabetes during pregnancy.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide expert pre-conception triage and advice, working closely with patients and healthcare professionals to optimise care for women with diabetes before and during pregnancy. The role also includes management of insulin pumps and some cross-cover responsibilities for the insulin pump service.

Main duties of the job

To provide expert care and advice to all patients with different types of Diabetes who attend the hospital either as an inpatient or outpatient.To reduce the impact of symptoms and improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes, including optimising treatment and providing education and support for patients and their families and carers.

To take the lead role in the development and delivery of expert education and training in the area of diabetes for other health professionals and stakeholders. To act independently and when necessary in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive optimal care.
