Booking Coordinator
Department: Imaging
Band 3, Full-time £24,625 - £25,674 per annum (pro rata if Part-Time)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
You will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective appointment system within the Imaging department. This involves dealing with all appointment requests from Health Centres, GP's, Out-Patient Clinics, and Wards.
This is a challenging roll but if you are a bright, enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who likes to be kept busy, this could be the post for you.
The role will consist of both cross site (i.e. acute hospital/ community diagnostic centres/ witan gate) and hybrid working (designated trust work location and from home). Hours of work are rostered across 08:00-20:00/ 7 days per week.
The successful applicants will have excellent communication skills. Enjoy working as part of a team and ideally will have had previous experience of working with the public. A flexible approach to the needs of the department is essential.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will support with the management of referrals and the booking of both new and follow up appointments over a range of imaging modalities (i.e., CT, DEXA, MRI, ultrasound, Xray, etc).
- Collaboratively working as part of the imaging team, the post involves the coordination of list set-ups, amendments and cancellations.
- To liaise confidently with patients and referrers over the telephone to deal with a variety of queries.
- To ensure, in line with the Trust's Access Policy, that patients are treated in a timely and effective manner and support the delivery of patient's rights to access imaging services within maximum wait times.
- To supportthe imaging service with administrative functions such as booking protocol updates, patient pathway changes, training etc.
- The postholder will also cover other imaging booking coordinators and receptionists during periods of sickness/leave and share duties and responsibilities within the imaging A&C team based on service needs.
- The main duties of this job description will continue to evolve to meet trust objectives and national NHS targets.

Managing People:
- Beresponsible for his/her actions and patient workload and be able to work unsupervised as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibility for information resources:
- Use a variety of IT systems which are essential to the performance of their day-to-day work including Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Teams, outlook, excel), radiology information system (i.e., CRIS) and hospital information system (i.e., Cerner).
Research & development:
- To keep up to date with current issues and developments within imaging. Share best practice and inform other staff of new A&C imaging developments
Freedom to act:
- Undertaking aperiod of in-post training for 6-12 months to understand all aspects of the post and to attend other training courses as required.
