Staff Nurse
Department Cardiac Catheter Lab
Band 5 £29,970-£36,483 per annum
Hours 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the Cardiac catheter Lab at Milton Keynes University Hospital. The unit includes a 6 bedded day unit which runs morning and afternoon lists for both inpatients and outpatients.
Time management, prioritization and delegation skills are essential. Excellent communication skills are paramount as you will be liaising with a wide range of departments and members of the multidisciplinary team from within the Trust.
Experience in caring for cardiology patients is desirable.
The unit is a fast paced and exciting area to work in, as a staff nurse you will be involved in assisting for procedures such as Angiograms, Angioplasty, Pacemaker insertions, Direct Current Cardioversions (DCCV) and many other procedures.
On joining the team, you will attend a week long Trust Induction program followed by 4 weeks working alongside an existing team member, in a supernumerary capacity. During this period, you will also have the opportunity to spend time with some of the Cardiac nurse specialists, the cardiac physiologists as well as going to the CCU/ cardiology ward.

You will be expected to Maintain a 100% compliance with mandatory training and to adhere to all hospital policies including the uniform policy.
Clinical
To demonstrate and promote a patient centred style of clinical practice, to assess patients prior to being admitted for cardiology diagnostic and interventional procedures. To monitor and care for patients pre and post cardiac procedures on the day ward.
Professional
To demonstrate a professional approach to leadership and management of self and colleagues. To provide clinical support and advice to junior members of staff as appropriate.
Service Management
To assist, when necessary, with the definition of nursing standards and maintain the provision and effectiveness of those standards in line with clinical governance. The post holder will ensure that they are aware of all issues relating to Clinical governance, Quality assurance and Clinical Effectiveness and that they carry out their duties in accordance with these frameworks and standards.
Education
To help to create and maintain an environment conducive to development and learning for all staff. To assist, when necessary, with induction and orientation programs for staff ensuring that the needs of the ward are met. Use reflective practice to enhance development of self and others.
