Mammographer/Mammographer Trainee
Department: Breast Imaging
Band 6 £37,338 - £44,962 per annum pro rata (Trainee post will be paid at Annex 21 whilst training)
Part-time 23 hours per week (Mon: 0800-1630, Thurs: 0830-1730, Fri: 0800-1630), all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
It is an exciting time for you to join the breast imaging team following the re-design of the unit to modernise the space and install state of the art technology into all rooms, this includes tomosynthesis, CESM and CESM biopsy along with the newly designed staff hub.

Main duties of the job
Due to the nature of the role and to encourage women of all cultures and religions in our community to access breast screening all applicants must be female. This is deemed to be an occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, paragraph 1 and the Employment Statutory Code of Practices, Chapter 13, paragraphs 13.5
- To work as part of the Breast Care Unit multidisciplinary team providing a breast screening and symptomatic service for the population of Milton Keynes. This will include duties both on the Mobile Screening Unit and the Breast Care Unit in MKUH, and will also include use of dedicated computer systems.
- This role involves working alongside assistant practitioners, supervising, and mentoring as required.
- To perform high quality diagnostic breast imaging to demonstrate or exclude breast cancer on all women attending the symptomatic or breast screening services, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.
- As a Senior Mammographer, you will be expected to lead by example and work independently in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures and be accountable for your own actions, liaising with the Breast Imaging Service Manager, as necessary.
- When working in the mobile screening unit, you will be the lead specialist for breast screening, provide advice and assistance to colleagues as required.

We are part of the diagnostic imaging team at MKUH and provides the National Breast Screening (NHSBSP) and symptomatic imaging service for the population of Milton Keynes. This is delivered from both the static breast unit and mobile screening unit locations so the ability to work flexibly across different sites is essential.
We are looking for a dedicated Radiographer with a passion for breast imaging to join our friendly team and undertake the UK Postgraduate Award in Mammography (this will be paid under Annex 21 whilst training) or are you an HCPC registered Mammographer who already holds a UK regulated level 7 postgraduate qualification in Mammography or has a UK ENIC statement of compatibility.
- Participatein the Breast Imaging Services staff rotation both on the Mobile Unit and at the Breast Care Unit and undertake all associated admin and clinical duties as required.
- To transport clinic paperwork and other consumable items to and from distant sites in accordance with Caldicott principals and local guidelines.
- To work autonomously within own specialist area, consulting senior staff as and when necessary and will be accountable for own professional actions.
- Workswiftly and efficiently so that breast screening lists are completed in the allocated time and ensuring that Technical Repeat rates conform to NHSBSP standards of less than 3%.
- Tobe responsible for the safe use of all digital mammographic equipment and its peripheries
