Hours: 37.5 hours per week (nights- however, as part of development, may be expected to rotate onto days), all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with extensive clinical experience in an acute/critical care environment to join our highly committed and friendly team of Night Nurse Practitioners and form part of the Clinical Site Team out of hours. You will be able to work autonomously to deliver specialist advice and care in relation to the acutely deteriorating patient and provide senior nursing leadership and the highest standards of care across the hospital at night.The Night Nurse Practitioner role is a busy and rapidly paced one, working in partnership with the Clinical Site Manager and the multidisciplinary teams, delivering the highest standards of clinical care and extended skills to our patients across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
This is a dual role. You will be working clinically as a Rapid Response nurse, providing specialist and expert care to the acutely unwell patient, alongside an operational leadership role supporting the Clinical Site Manager and the multidisciplinary teams in the safe management of the hospital at night, including managing timely and effective flow and support to wards and departments.
The role of the Night Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is to provide an extended role of the nursing service at night to improve the care of inpatients. The NNP will identify acutely ill patients and provide an advanced nursing assessment, initiating first line treatments, investigations and prescribed medications within agreed written protocols, guidelines and group directives. The NNP will plan and implement care; work as part of the Rapid Response Team and facilitate early medical intervention when required.The NNP will facilitate, in partnership with the ward nurses, the smooth running of the wards and hospital paying particular attention to the needs of patients at night. They will support the Clinical Site Manager (CSM) to aid patient flow across the site in order to support achieving improved patient experience and both National and Local Targets.
The NNP will act as a role model and will lead, develop and evaluate training and education for nurses and students at night, establishing a suitable environment and culture to enhance practice development.
