Health Care Assistant/Phlebotomist

Department: Paediatric Day Care

Band: Band 3

Salary: £24,071 - £25,674 Per annum, pro rata if part time

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An opportunity has arisen for a part time HCA/Phlebotomist's to join our existing team in our Paediatric Day Care Unit to support delivery and provision of the best possible care for our babies, children, young people and their families.

This Band 3 role will require someone who is able to effectively run a phlebotomy clinic, being kind, caring and compassionate whilst taking blood samples from babies and children within the Paediatric Department. They will also be expected to work alongside the nursing team within the Paediatric Day Care Unit or Milton Mouse Outpatient Department: this may involve managing clinics, completing observations on children that are having more involved tests, heighting, weighting and any other requested tests such as ECG's and urine testing. It is also expected that they ensure that the unit is clean and tidy and manage the ordering of stores. They will need to be computer literate, and a good knowledge of IT systems will be useful.

Main duties of the job

You will be a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team, expected to support and work across the whole Paediatric unit as an HCA or Phlebotomist as required. The role includes working with other professional groups and agencies to ensure that we are focussed on delivering High Quality Care.

You will need to be competent, caring, courageous, and compassionate, with a special interest in the care of babies, children and young people.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they have HCA experience as well as some phlebotomy experience. Further training in Paediatric phlebotomy will be given.
