We are looking for multiple motivated, organised and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Healthcare Assistant. Additionally, we are a friendly team who support and encourage each other, all successful applicants must hold the same values.

Main duties of the job

Ward 17 is a 26-bed acute coronary care ward caring for male and female patients and Ward 16 is a 29-bed respiratory ward and whose patients are female. Our wards contain highly skilled doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants caring for all our patients' holistic needs and promoting independence and rehabilitation. We care for and support patients with chronic heart conditions and deliver care to acutely unwell cardiac patients.

We partner closely with the cardiology department in the Trust, performing pacemaker insertions, diagnostic cardiac angiography and other procedures. We also collaborate with the cardiac teams in our tertiary centres, for our patients requiring transfer.

The role of the HCA is to assist the nursing team in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.

o To assist all team members as required in the direct delivery of patient care. Undertake personal care duties for patients including bathing and feeding.o To have knowledge of basic clinical observations and an understanding of the correct escalation process, making judgements on when to report patient conditions to a senior member of staff.o To assist, where appropriate, in the induction of new staff within the department, demonstrating duties to new starterso To organise own daily workload, adjusting and prioritising appropriately as the ward actively dictates.
