An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker, to join the Stores and Distribution Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital. We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of a team.

This post will involve picking, packing and receipting of orders, stock rotation and ward supply including extended services. Working as part of a team the role can involve lifting and moving of heavy items with appropriate training. Weekend & Bank Holiday working as part of a roster.

Main duties of the job

To perform, under supervision, all types of pharmaceutical work appropriate to the level of knowledge and experience, to participate in the provision of pharmaceutical services to our patients and staff.

To provide accurate, efficient, and high-quality supply service to the trust and external customers ensuring the continued quality of products, maintaining the standards required for wholesale supply, as required by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Stock shelves in the Inpatient Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, and any other required location ensuring that stock is kept clean, tidy, in the correct place and used in order FEFO (first expiry first out).
  • Carry out regular stock checks of medicines stored within these areas reporting any discrepancies to the Procurement Pharmacy Technician.
  • Receive and process orders for medicines from wards and departments.
  • Visit wards and departments on a schedule, to order stock (top up)
  • Process orders via the pharmacy computer system.
  • Assemble medicines for delivery in ward boxes ensuring that they are packed in an appropriate way to minimise damage or risk to staff and messengers.
  • Ensure that only non-wholesale stock returned to Pharmacy is correctly assessed for re-use and returned appropriately via the stock system.
  • Dispose of medicines appropriately ready for destruction in a safe manner.
  • Receive and process telephone enquiries relating to stock and distribution.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Chief Pharmacy Technician or Team Manager.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above for English & Maths.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Good Distribution Practise qualification.

Experience
