The Financial Services Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS FT are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team.
The Financial Services Team includes capital, charity, subsidiary, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, governance and statutory returns.
This role is a development role, requiring completion of relevant competencies. The role is suited to an AAT technician or equivalent, with capital accounting experience, who has worked within the NHS, wider public sector, or similarly large and complex organisations.

Main duties of the job
To assist the Capital analyst in providing the capital accounting required to ensure that the trust accurately records its capital assets and adheres to capital accounting policies outlined under IFRS and by Monitor and the Department of Health.
To provide capital accounting to support the Senior Capital Accountant in meeting, NHSE and DHSC requests for interim and year end accounts submissions.
The post holder will:
- Assist in the timely and accurate production of monthly and annual capital accounts to include:The capitalisation of assets onto the fixed asset registers, in accordance with Trust policy.
- Monthly processing of depreciation, amortisation and Accruals in line with Trust policy
- Process the appropriate accounting entries for the disposal of fixed assets.
- Revaluation of assets in line with Trust policy in RAM.

- Monthly reconciliation of Ledger and Asset system with any issues resolved within an agreed period.
- Assist the Capital Analyst in Producing relevant schedules to be included in the annual accounts, supported by clear working papers.
- Input capital transactions into the Trusts fixed asset register (RAM) including reconciliation to Oracle. This involves analysing complex data.
- Provide a monthly schedule to the Financial Management Team to identify potential capital items coded to Income and Expenditure and action changes as appropriate.
- The preparation and maintenance of all appropriate guidance and procedure notes in accordance with SFIs and own experience. Keeping them up to date in accordance with the Finance Departments schedule.
- Responsible for planning and co-ordinating own workload in order to ensure the monthly accounts are produced on time.
- Support the organisation towards best practice in respect of capital accounting, ensuring they adhere to IFRS guidance particularly in respect of intangible assets.
