Job summary

As a Neurology consultant here at MKUH you will be providing a range of outpatient services with the potential to develop or run specialist clinics of interest. In addition, the post will carry out inpatient reviews, support with training and teaching and aid the development of the wider Neurology service. Here at MKUH we work very closely with Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and this post will be able to attend weekly MDTs with OUH (dependent upon specialist interests) and build on the strong links already in place with our tertiary centre. The Neurology consultants attend and participate in the weekly regional Neuroscience Grand Round held at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Support with service developments and improvements to allow the service to continue to grow and meet the needs of the growing local population.

Support and ensure Governance within the service to ensure patient safety is maintained and incidents are raised early and investigated properly.

Build strong working relationships with fellow consultants, operations managers, patient pathway coordinators and other teams across the Trust.

Maintain a high standard of work and look to continuously improve their practice to ensure patient safety and experience.

The post holder must:

Be on the specialist register for Neurology; eligible for entry on the register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of the interview.

Minimum 7 years post graduate experience including higher medical training - 4 years as specialist / specialty registrar.
