Security Officer
Department Security & Car Parking
Band 3 £22,816 - £24,336 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week: Rotating 12 hour shifts
We are looking to recruit a Security Officer to perform a wide range of duties related to the Security function within the trust, ensuring a high standard of service delivery in relation to security and car-park functions. Duties will include security patrols, operating CCTV, responding to code victor immediate assistance calls, assisting the Police with their enquiries and contributing to the reduction in criminal activity on site.
The successful candidate will be required to work without supervision and use a high level of initiative in decision making.
We are looking for someone with the ability to think quickly on their feet, able to use their initiative and sometimes make difficult decisions. They will be required to work closely with managers of all levels, including Executive Directors.They must have a friendly personality but also able to be firm if required.

Main duties of the job
- Work closely on clinical areas with patients who demonstrate abusive and aggressive actions towards staff and other patients
- Patrol the site as directed according to the needs of the Trust in order to best protect staff, patients, visitors and Trust property
- Evict "undesirable" persons from the Trust premises using minimal force; or to restrain these individuals when necessary and appropriate in order to protect members of the public, staff or Trust property in accordance with British law
- Use CCTV monitoring equipment in order to improve security of Trust premises and to provide evidence to external agencies where necessary and appropriate.

- Work within the Trust's "codes of practice" relating to CCTV, Data Protection, Human Rights, Freedom of Information and any other relevant legislation
- Act as first point of contact in responding to incidents and reports of crime. Communicating to outside agencies and liaising with the victims and witnesses of crime. Completing relevant reports, statements and paperwork as required.
- Respond to "Major Incident" and "Code Victor" to secure any affected area of the site and control access and egress to authorised personnel only until instructed by senior management.
- Undertake general security checks of the site ensuring the integrity of all access and entry points.
