We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals, with a willingness to learn, to join our hospital as Health Care Assistants providing personal care to our patients.
Recruitment Evening
If you are interested in learning more about the role of Healthcare Assistant and working as part of #TeamMKUH, please come to our Recruitment Evening on Friday 10 February between 4pm and 8pm in the Academic Centre (opposite the main reception at MKUH). There will be opportunities to speak to our Nursing team, get help with your application, talk to Practice Education, learn more about our hospital, find out about different opportunities and complete your application after the event.
If you choose to apply now, you could be invited to attend one of our interview panels that evening and will have HR support to conduct pre-employment checks.
Main duties of the job
Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) assist our Registered Nurses, and members of other teams, to look after our patients and deliver the fundamentals of nursing care. Experience caring for people, either in hospital or a care home, is an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
We currently have Healthcare Assistant vacancies on Medical and Surgical wards with opportunities for you to develop your skills and advance your career in nursing should you wish.
As a University Hospital we are committed to educating and developing our workforce. Successful applicants will receive:

Our HCAs are required to;
- Attend and complete the training programme
- Meet the MKUH standards within the first 12 weeks of employment
- Work shifts on a rota basis including a mix of day shifts, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays
