Assistant Financial Accountant Apprentice

The Finance Team is looking for an apprentice to join our team. This is an exciting role within the team and one that will be extremely rewarding for the right candidate.

- You are 16 years old or over,
- You have resided in the UK or EEA for at least the past 3 years,
- You can produce evidence of your Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications,
- You will not be in full time education at the point of starting this role,
- You have not previously undertaken an Accounting qualification

Apprenticeship roles at MKUH are Fixed Term for the duration of the training. For this role, the Term is 18 months.
For the first 6 months of the apprenticeship, you will be paid 70% of Band 3 and the last 12 months you will be paid 75% of Band 3. Upon successful completion of the training, a permanent role may be offered, subject to your performance during the apprenticeship, and MKUH resource requirements at the time.

Main duties of the job
This is a fabulous opportunity to undertake an Assistant Account Level 3 Apprenticeship whilst learning many key 'on the job' skills. Your role will often be the first point of contact for our staff, so you'll need the right interpersonal skills and a drive to deliver excellent levels of customer service. You'll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build and sustain good relationships in and outside the hospital; good attention to detail and computer literacy.
The Finance Team has two arms with approximately 30 team members:
Financial Services, covering areas such as capital, charity, subsidiary, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, governance and statutory returns; and Financial Management, covering areas such as divisional business partnering, income, costing and system reporting.
The Apprenticeship programme will be delivered by our external NHS approved training provider. You will take part in interactive workshops and be assigned a tutor to support you throughout the programme as well as receiving support from the MKUH Apprenticeship Team. Alongside your apprenticeship studies, you will also complete an AAT Diploma in Accounting qualification.
