Maintenance Technician (Mechanical and Electrical)

Band 5 - £28,407 - £34,581 + 12 R&R (£3,408 - £4,149) + on-call payments up to a potential £12,000 pa + 27 days+ Annual Leave + NHS pension
37.5 hours per week
This is an excellent opportunity to join us at a time when we are strengthening our Estates and Facilities team.
You will be self-motivated and experienced in Mechanical & Electrical maintenance across a broad range of plant and equipment, including areas such as Refrigeration, Sterilisation, Building Management Systems, and other complex Estates systems. We will offer training to the right candidate to gain the expert knowledge required for this post. You will have a proven track record of delivering estates maintenance within a large Estate. Appropriate scope of experience and a flexible can-do attitude to the broad remit of the role is required to succeed. A flexible attitude to an ever-changing work environment will be required to succeed in this challenging post whilst you will be joining a great team of estates professionals. You will manage resources within the scope of the role. You will have strong and effective communication skills, be motivated, have the ability to motivate others and work well under pressure. You will be enthusiastic with the drive and vision to assist and move the service forward. You will be qualified in an engineering apprenticeship plus additional evidence of CPD or relevant estates experience.

Main duties of the job
The key focus of this role is to lead as a specialist Craftsmen within the Estates Team giving advice on technical areas of Estates work to others within the Estates Team.
Specialist areas of work will typically include Sterilizers, Washer Disinfectors, Air Conditioning, Building Management Controls (BMS), Fire Alarm System and Site wide Drainage Systems.
Specialist Audits, Condition Appraisal and Inspections on complex equipment and plant will be required within the role of Technician.
The post holder will act as a mentor to junior staff including apprentices which will report to the Technician grade.
Please note: This role includes the responsibility of being a member of the on-call team which operates out of hours, this is currently a 1 in 5 requirement of the role, full training and mentoring will be provided. Also, whilst the core hours of this role are currently Monday to Friday, a shift pattern may be introduced in future which will change the core hours and days of working to include some weekend work which will attract weekend working supplements.

- Experience of working in challenging environments such as Chemicals, confined spaces, sewage drains and working at heights
Desirable
- Relevant additional qualifications typically 18th Edition IEE Regulations, CFPP 01-01 Decontamination of Surgical Instruments, HTM 04-01 Safe Water Systems within Healthcare Premises.HTM 03-01 Heating & Ventilation within health sector buildings
