Employee Relations (ER) Advisor
Department: HR Business Partnering
Band 6
Hours: 31.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
As one of our ER Advisors you will be working with the ER Business Partner and a team of HR Business Partners to provide an excellent generalist HR Service to the Trust.
The role involves being responsible for a significant and complex caseload of employee relations issues, working with managers in order to address under performance, sickness absence, disciplinary, and grievance matters, together with terms and conditions of service and organisational change.
You will have experience in dealing with complex casework in a multi-faceted HR environment and have the ability to work both independently; using your own initiative whilst also recognising the importance of being a good team player. You must be confident in providing a comprehensive HR service based on your knowledge and personal experience of best practice and employment law.
You will need to have Level 5 CIPD and Associate membership of the CIPD. In addition, you will have a proven track record in building and developing relationships with all levels of staff, whilst also influencing and coaching managers at a senior level, as well as working in partnership with Trade unions.

Main duties of the job

The role is based cross site at both our office in Central Milton Keynes and the Hospital site and therefore candidates will be required to possess their own transport. A mixture of working from home and in the office is available.
The post-holder is required to work as part of the Human Resources Team and will be responsible for delivering an operational HR service to the Trust in conjunction with the ER Business Partner and HR Business Partners; the post holder is also responsible for corporate projects and strategic elements of the role as determined on an ongoing basis by the Head of Employee Relations & Business Partnering.

Develop the people management capacity of operational managers through the provision of coaching and training for the Trust on Equality and Diversity and HR Policies and Procedures.Provide coaching to other employees as required to support their development both externally to the HR Department, to the Recruitment Administrators and other trainees as required.
Deliver HR policy and procedural coaching and training to both managers and small / large groups (35+) on a regular basis.Responsible for providing Equality & Diversity training to the whole Trust including at corporate inductions and mandatory training events.
Responsible for providing People Skills training (such as mediation) to staff.
