Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our dynamic and forward thinking Children's Services at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as part of on-going investment into the service. You will join a busy, friendly and developing Children's Services treating the children and young people of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
The post holder, with colleagues, will provide general paediatric and neonatal services for the prevention, diagnosis and management of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
This will include performing urgent Child Safeguarding Medical, under the supervision of the consultant. Undertaking general paediatric outpatient clinics and other special interest clinics as appropriate to the skills/interests of the post holder.
Attending and contributing to departmental teaching, research and audit participation, with an option for taking an appraiser role.
The post holder must maintain continuing professional development and will be encourage to attend relevant professional courses and meetings.
Main duties of the job
To perform duties at the middle grade level, but may be expected to support the SHO team if required.
Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge including all administrative duties associated with patient care as middle grade.
Support outpatient clinics under supervision from consultant and thus contribute to the provision of a comprehensive efficient paediatric service across Milton Keynes.
Provide evidence-based care for all patients within their sphere of responsibility. To liaise effectively and in a timely manner with the General Practitioners, Community Services and all other health care agencies when appropriate.
Responsible for carrying out teaching as required and to contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
Required to participate in audit, clinical governance.
Involvement in research is encouraged.
