Job summary

Fixed term contract 12 months maternity cover

The pharmacy at Milton Keynes University Hospital needs to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, focussed on providing the best possible patient care and experience. You would work as an integral part of our team to help us deliver our departmental service to a high standard.

We are a department of over 90 staff providing pharmacy services through team-working and prioritising the needs of those we serve. You should be an experienced registered Pharmacy Technician who is NVQ Level 3 qualified or equivalent. As part of the pharmacy team working on clinical trials you will provide pharmacy support to the trust R&D ensuring prompt and efficient delivery all aspects of clinical trials services involving investigational medicinal product (IMP) according to GCP.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

Reviewing protocols for new studies

Attending Pre-study site meetings at feasibility

Attending site initiation meetings prior to study start up

Reviewing IMP Storage and Labelling in accordance with Annex 13 labelling requirements

Setting up new clinical trials

Dispensing study drugs

Writing and reviewing SOP

Accuracy Checks for dispensed IMP

Provide support for the pharmacy aseptic unit for sterile preparation of IMP

Maintain source information for IMP receipts, dispensed and returns

Use IRT (IWRS/IVRS) to maintain IMP accountability

Undertake IMP reconciliation for destruction

Maintain cold chain for IMP requiring refrigeration

Temperature monitoring for all IMP storage

Ensuring Staff are GCP trained and up-to-date with their CPD

Provide support for research team

Work to support MHRA GCP Inspection and Sponsor Audit

Participating in dispensary rota.

To participate in high standards of practice as defined by the Controls Assurance criteria across the Trust.

To contribute to the Trust complying with the Medicines Management standards, Clinical Governance and Risk Management.

  • Accredited Checking Technician
  • Current professional registration with GPhC

Desirable

  • NVQ(A1) assessor or equivalent
  • NVQ internal verifier

  • I.C.R Certificate in Clinical Research or similar qualification
  • Working knowledge of ICHGCP guidelines and the EU clinical trials directive
