Applicants are invited to apply for a substantive Consultant Breast Radiologist at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is replacement post offering 10 programmed activities.
It is an exciting time to join our enthusiastic and dynamic Breast Imaging team. During 2021 we are embarking on an extensive equipment installation programme that will involve replacement of our two existing mammography units plus installation of a third additional unit. With the new equipment comes tomosynthesis, contrast mammography and contrast biopsy. We are also in the process of implementation radiofrequency seeds to replace some wire localisations.
The team has an excellent record in maintaining and exceeding targets. It is well known for its innovative approaches to delivering breast services and including patients in service redesign and performance review.
The Breast Service is situated within a satellite unit of the Imaging department and includes use of a mobile van for operation at out-reach sites and on the main site as required. There is a comprehensive range of services to support all aspects of the screening and symptomatic service including breast intervention to include vacuum procedures, MRI and localisations.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to have full GMC Registered Qualification, a Medical Degree and FRCR or equivalent.
The ideal candidate will be able to offer expertise in all aspects of Breast Imaging, including supporting both the symptomatic service as well as screening. The successful candidate will also be expected support the general imaging workload preferably this includes participation in the Imaging on call rota however this is negotiable. Out of hours the service at MKUH is supported by overnight teleradiology provision. Home reporting is supported, with the majority of diagnostic radiologists working from home for 1 day per week.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to participate in teaching medical students from the University of Buckingham.
