If so, this role could be perfect for you - we are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated B6/7 Medical Nurse Practitioner to work within the supportive and forward-thinking team at the RUH.

You will work closely with consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, nursing and therapy colleagues in the Emergency Department and the front door, and core wards delivering multi-disciplinary, patient-centred care, advising on discharge or admission with the complex caseload this interesting group provides.

You will be supported with teaching and development skills and opportunities to build your own knowledge and learning and shape your future pathways in this area.

Banding for this post will be assessed based on previous experience and at interview; band 7s will be expected to hold at least two advanced practice modules and Band 6s will hold relevant acute experiencewith a view to undertaking the first 3 modules (PACR, PADRAP, NMP) to progress.

Main duties of the job

  • To hold responsibility for own case load and provide a high standard of assessment, diagnosis and planning for:
    • Frailty - a dynamic team of geriatricians, medical nurse practitioners and occupational therapists and physiotherapists providing early assessment and intervention in the emergency department and Older Person's Rapid Assessment Area (OPRAA) to those patients living with frailty.
    • The Older Person's Assessment Unit (OPAU) and Older Person's Unit Short Stay (OPUSS) which are our short-stay, older people's inpatient ward for our patients who require a bed for less than 72 hours.
    • Core wards - Combe and Waterhouse
  • Provide clinical support, teaching and education to colleagues and families
  • Support with future planning and management of Frail patients
  • Represent MNPs and work with other members of MDT to support service improvement and best practice.
