Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a full -time Trust Doctor post at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This post provides the opportunity to work in varied and challenging clinical roles in Trauma & Orthopaedics 06/08/2025-07/12/25, Emergency Medicine 08/12/25 - 07/04/26 and Paediatrics 08/04/26-04/08/26.

The successful appointee will undertake out-of-hours work in all three specialties. The appointee will be supported by an overarching Educational Supervisor and will be entitled to a £600 study leave allowance.

Full GMC registration and a minimum of 12 months UK (NHS) General Professional Training or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

T&O - excellent learning environment for those seeking to broaden their experience of Orthopaedic Surgery with opportunity for supervised sessions in theatre and the outpatient clinic. This role supports a busy unit delivering the full range of acute and elective orthopaedic services. This post will be a 1:8 on call on the F2/Core Surgical Trainee rota.

EM - responsible for the acute assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Under the supervision of more experienced doctors they will initiate interventions, request and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate management plans, discharge home or transfer care to specialty in-patient teams, whilst keeping notes up to date.

Paediatrics - rota covers general paediatrics and neonates. General paediatric ward based jobs include bloods/TTAs/discharge summaries/organizing and chasing investigations clerking. Acute admissions - clerking patients, formulate differential diagnosis and then normally have discussion/review with registrar, formulate a management plan and carry out any required investigations. NICU - covering NICU ward round jobs and deliveries, and reviewing any babies that the midwives have concerns about. CDS bleep -attend deliveries and provide resus support if required.
